Gain essential skills needed to work safely, confidently and professionally behind the scenes at concerts, festivals and large-scale events. 

Step into the world of live events and festivals with this practical, hands-on Skills Bootcamp. Designed for absolute beginners, from site setup and crowd control to technical production and sustainability, you’ll gain real-world experience and the confidence to start your career in the live events industry.

Course content

All our courses have been designed to meet the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the live experience and creative industries today. And the experts who lead each course will teach, mentor and support you every step of the way. 

In our Festival and Event Crewing course, you’ll learn:

  • How to set up and manage event and festival sites.
  • Understanding crowd control and safety procedures.
  • Basics of staging, lighting and audio setups.
  • Event sustainability and reducing environmental impact.
  • How to work as part of a technical crew team.

You’ll also complete the following recognised industry certifications:

  • Event Safety Passport (ESP)
  • Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
  • ACT Awareness (Action Counter Terrorism)

The course is designed for all levels of experience and is ideal for individuals that are: 

  • Interested in working in live events or festivals.
  • Students or graduates eager to explore backstage roles.
  • Looking for a career change or are keen to try something new.
  • Individuals with no prior experience looking to build events and entertainment industry practical skills.

Course outcomes

You’ll complete key industry certifications, gain hands-on experience in site management and technical production and leave with the skills, confidence and connections to step into entry-level crewing roles, with access to guaranteed interviews and real freelance opportunities. You’ll also receive a certificate of completion and a LinkedIn digital badge.

Our Skills Bootcamp courses are delivered in multiple regions and start dates so that you can find the best time to enrol on the course. This course is 2 weeks long and requires attendance 5 days each week, Monday to Friday.

Our Festival and Events Crewing course will be delivered in the following regions, and on the following confirmed course dates:

Funding Eligibility

Please note that the following eligibility criteria must be met in order to receive funding for this course:

  • 19 years of age and over 
  • Be based in either the Hertfordshire or West Yorkshire regions 
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK

Meet your tutor

Jack Myers is an experienced educator with a 12-year background in Higher Education. His expertise spans both academic and vocational training within the creative industries, specialising in areas such as Special Effects for Film and Television, technical production, event management, and 3D printing/scanning.

He holds a PGCert in Higher and Professional Education and a BDes (1st Class Hons) in Special Effects Development and has designed, delivered, and assessed learning for undergraduate students. Recognised for his commitment to student success, including a nomination for an Outstanding Lecturer Award, Jack offers a strong blend of academic rigour and practical industry training.
