Academy of Live Technology (formerly Backstage Academy) Training Ltd was established in July 2009, taking its first cohort of students in 2011. As a privately funded organisation, we bridge the gap between industry and education.
As a centre of excellence for education & technical training, we specialise in short courses, degree courses and bespoke training programmes for students, industry professionals and community groups. The Academy of Live Technology’s distinct educational offering aims to bridge the gap between technical, experience-led teaching, industry and advancing innovation.
With Production Park Ltd. as our parent company, we are part of a group of dynamic, industry-leading companies on Europe’s first live events and entertainment campus.
Since our inception in 2011 to August 2021, we have delivered University of Greater Manchester degrees under franchise. From September 2021, the Academy became a registered provider with the Office for Students, validated by the University of Greater Manchester. Our ambition is to be successfully awarded New Degree Awarding Powers [NDAPS] following the submission of our application to OfS in 2023, successful acknowledgement and subsequent probationary period.
In 2023, ALT partnered with Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D) and Rock Lititz to offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Live Experience Design and Production, emulating our model of teaching delivery in the UK.
