Notch expands support for ALT with new RFX keys and learning edition access

Example of content created using Notch

We’re excited to share that Notch has gifted the Academy of Live Technology two additional RFX keys, worth £1,850 each per year. This brings us to a total of five keys now available for teaching and project work.

Alongside this, Notch recently introduced us to their brand‑new Learning Edition license, giving both students and staff access to a fully functioning version of Notch with just a few limitations. Students can install it on two machines, save projects, and render out content, making it ideal for learning, experimentation and assessment.

At ALT, Notch is a core part of our Live Visual Design and Production (LVDP) curriculum. From ‘Visual Toolbox’ modules in Years 1 and 2 to major creative projects like Lightwaves, students use Notch to build real‑time, interactive content from day one.

And the impact speaks for itself. Our growing number of LVDP graduates are out in the industry using Notch on large‑scale productions for major clients. We’ve even had two graduates go on to work at Notch itself. Their tools are shaping the live events world, and our students are shaping it with them.

Having access to this software is critical. It’s one of the few creative content platforms built specifically for our industry, and giving students hands‑on experience from Year 1 ensures they’re ready for the workflows used by professionals every day.

“We’re pleased to continue supporting the Academy of Live Technology and the next generation of the live events industry by expanding access to Notch. By providing additional RFX keys and introducing the Learning Edition license, we aim to give students the same creative tools used by industry professionals every day. Notch has always been driven by real-time creativity, and it’s inspiring to see students at ALT embracing the software so fully.”
